CHILDMINDING DEVELOPMENT

NICMA’s team of Childminding Development Officers work across the Health & Social Care Trust areas to ensure that Childminding needs are addressed at a local level.

The Development role is diverse and includes:

  • working to meet the childminding needs of communities by promoting Childminding as a career and increasing the number of registered childminders
  • encouraging legal childminding and working to promote the benefits of registration for children and families
  • providing a support network to registered childminders as a means of improving the quality of childcare and reducing the isolation of individual childminders
  • Working in partnership with voluntary, community and statutory agencies to develop Childminding within communities
  • working closely with the network of 23 Childminding Support groups and drop-in centres throughout Northern Ireland
  • providing a local Childminding Information, Advice & Vacancy service to childminders, parents and those involved in early years
